Fairytale

Fairytale is a non-violent role playing adventure game for children which started life as a student project.

You play the game as a character called an Ump and you are placed in an imaginary world where your biggest goal is to help other creatures. One example of this is to climb a tall tree to save a squirrel that has eaten too much.

"We wanted to create a game for our younger audience that is creative and that stimulates the child's imagination. The game has more references to old fairytale books than other games on the market right now. We also think that other games for children often underestimates the player and we want to give them a world to explore and a story to follow" says Annika Fogelgren of CherryTech Studios.

She adds: "We have tested the game with children and their parents and that has given us some really positive feedback. We are currently looking for publishers and therefore we don't have a release date yet, but the game will be finished for christmas 2008."

The team consist of Annika Fogelgren, Jens Hedenskog, Emma Johansson, Albertina Sparrhult, Pernilla Sparhult, Björn Bergstrand and Marie Viberg. "Most of us are students from the University of Gotland (Swe). Fairytale started out as a school project in 2007 and now we have a newly started company called CherryTech Studios. We have gotten the chance to show our game at places like; the Game Developers Conference in Leipzig and Nordic Game Conference in Malmö."
