klicksafe Guideline and Brochure for Parents’ Meetings
New material offered by klicksafe: speakers of parents’ evenings receive thematic and organisational support with the guideline “Parents’ evenings Internet and Mobile Phones”. The collection of material offers comprehensive information for planning and delivering information to parents via schools and educational institutions. |
Media education for their children often presents parents with challenges. Within a more and more complex media world it is difficult to competently guide children in their use of computers and mobile phones. This can be remedied by “media pedagogical” parents’ evening in schools, kindergartens or family centres. Here, parents receive practical assistance and advice for their (media) educational daily routine. For speakers already offering parents’ evenings, or for those who want to offer them in the future, klicksafe has now published practical support: the new guidelines in the form of a loose-leaf collection “Parents’ evening internet and mobile phones” provides practical knowhow, didactic advice and concrete, practice-oriented methods. There are a wide range of check lists, exemplary schedules and handouts. The methods and recommendations are based on the experience of parents’ evenings that have taken place in North-Rhine Westphalia as part of the “Initiative Parents+Media” (Initiative Eltern+Medien, www.elternundmedien.de).
Contents of the guidelines:
- preparation and organisation of a parents’ evening (planning lists, check lists etc.)
- target group parents and the role of presenters (expectations of parents, transfer of knowledge, moderation etc.)
- structure of a parents’ evening (methods, exemplary schedule, feedback etc.)
- thematic fields internet and mobile phones (thematic knowledge as well as concrete advice for parents)
- collection of materials and links, background literature
With the new brochure “Parents’ evenings internet + mobile phones – training of speakers” klicksafe is explicitly addressing institutions training trainers for parents’ evenings. The brochure is built upon the guidelines and contains practical information for the training of qualified specialists as well as about educational objectives, didactic concepts and methods of continuing education. This klicksafe brochure was also developed in cooperation with the “Initiative parents+media”.
As with the klicksafe teachers’ handbook, cooperation partners in other federal states will be approached with the suggestion that they implement this guideline in their own networks of parents’ meetings.
Content of the brochure:
- aims and principles of the training
- organisation and framework conditions
- choice of speakers
- quality management and quality development of speakers
- schedule and content of training
- training methods
- collection of materials and literature
Both the guideline and the brochure can be ordered from the klicksafe office or downloaded from the klicksafe website.
