Mobile operators raise visibility of the Hotline in Bulgaria

SID 2009 was marked by an unusual event – the three mobile operators Mobiltel, GLOBUL and Vivatel sent text messages to their customers who use the mobile Internet to inform them about Safer Internet Day.

One of the operators – GLOBUL – even included a constant voice message in the pre-recorded announcement a customer hears when dialing the short service number. After the usual “If you want…. press…” the message said: “Do you know where your child is now? On the Internet? Check out the safer Internet rules at Safenet.bg”.

This  awareness campaign raised the daily unique visits to the Hotline site more than threefold – from an average of about 300 to more 900 on February 10th and to over 1000 two days later.

This joint activity became possible when  the three mobile operators were voted to be members of the Public Council on Safer Internet (the Hotline advisory board) in December 2008, and were also included onto  the National SID Committee.
