Youth Panel at the Norwegian Amandus Film Festival for children

The Norwegian Media Authority and its Youth Panel will be hosting a seminar on Media literacy concerning film and gaming. The subject will be on how children understand age rating in films and games - and if this aligns with their own understanding of the protection of minors.

The 21st Amandus Film Festival begins in Lillehammer March 30th. This is a festival for young moviemakers under the age of 20, and is being held in cooperation with Lillehammer University College and the Norwegian Film Institute.

The Norwegian Media Authority aims to involve their Children and Youth Panel in an effort to understand youth culture, and their literacy on media – (digital as well as traditional media), such as film and television. We are proud to have our Youth Panel involved in this seminar, which will encourage the audience of children and youngsters to air their views on age rating and the effect and impact media – here represented by films and games – have on their culture and life.

The Youth Panel consists of 6 highly interested 14 and 15 year olds – 3 boys and 3 girls – and they will be leading the seminar at Lillehammer. They will share their experiences with their favorite and most memorable films and games, and the reason why they think film and games are a big part of young culture and life.
