Safer Internet Day in Romania provided a perfect opportunity to celebrate two key events. Firstly, the launch of A Safer Internet for Children, which is the national internet safety programme (Sigur.Info) and secondly, an awards ceremony for the winners of the My Internaut Family competition.
This is a significant event for Romania, with over 12 million internet users in the country, but still relatively low levels of understanding about some of the risks associated with it. A press conference raised all of these issues, with many high profile speakers. The event has the support of several key players from industry who are keen to be involved in the delivery of the safer internet message.
